Qualification Overview

The Focus Awards Level 4 Certificate in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments (RQF) is aimed at beauty therapists looking to specialise in laser treatments.  The qualification will provide learners with the knowledge and understanding required in order to provide laser and intense pulsed light treatment to the general public. 

The qualification focuses on reducing hair growth and photo rejuvenation of the skin using laser and intense pulsed light (IPL).  The qualification will also cover; safe working practices, identifying and controlling hazards, identifying hair and skin conditions, and identifying those clients suitable for intense light and laser system treatments.

Qualification Structure

To successfully achieve the Focus Awards Level 4 Certificate in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments (RQF) learners must complete all the mandatory units totalling 31 Credits. 

Learner Entry Requirements

A learner must have previously completed a Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy qualification, other than this Focus Awards do not set any other entry requirements for the qualification; however, other requirements may be required by the centre.

Progression Routes

Learners wishing to progress from this qualification can undertake the following qualifications:

• Level 4 Award in Physiology for Advanced Beauty Therapy

• Level 4 Certificate in Salon Management

• Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Beauty Therapy

Age Ranges

Entry is at the discretion of the centre; however, learners must be at least 18 years old to undertake this qualification.
